OUR STORY

Since 1994

Kate has been teaching mathematics since graduating from Bristol University and gaining her PGCE, back in 1994. She has taught in boys schools, girls schools and co-ed environments and only left the classroom in 2022, following a relocation from Bristol to Sudbury, Suffolk after nearly 20 years as a Deputy Head and Teacher of maths. The decision to move into tutoring was fuelled by a desire to become more involved in the local community and be more flexible with her time, as she raises her young family.

She became fully booked very quickly and so, after a year, she decided to found Maths Boost Tutoring in 2023 to offer opportunities to other excellent teachers to meet the great need for quality teaching in this sector and further expand the offering to students.

She has experience of teaching Maths GCSE Higher Tier, A level Maths and Further Maths, IB Higher and Standard levels, 11+ and 13+ Entrance Examinations, STEP and MAT. The pandemic offered the opportunity to hone online teaching skills and experiment with new software, and so teaching via zoom has become second nature. Kate teaches across the UK and as far afield as Hong Kong and China in this way. However, her love of the classroom has not gone and so the 1:1 teaching in person is still highly valued.

A new initiative, coming this September, is the opportunity to join online small group tutorials for Higher Level GCSE Maths. Booked in 6 half term sessions, they provide an affordable way to achieve specific and individualised support and accelerate the confidence and success rate of students.
